Prime Grade AB
The highest grade of wood flooring. Normally described as AB. Cut from the centre of the log, this grade of wood has very few knots and the sap content of this wood is low. The colour variation is minimal. A Prime grade floor will have a very uniformed look. This tends to be the Most expensive of timber flooring
Select Grade
usually described as ABC grade, this wood contains some knots, and some sap which creates colour variation.
Natural Grade
ABCD grade, this wood grade has more knots of bigger size than Select, and also contains sap with more colour variation. Some manufacturers use a coloured wood filler to fill any holes which are naturally present in the wood to give a smooth surface.
Rustic Grade
CD. As the name suggests, it will display a larger range of colour variation, sap and will have more knots and fillers, giving it a lovely traditional vintage look.
