When measuring a room simply ensure you measure the longest point and the widest point (don't forget to go into the doorway). if the room has returns or is shaped draw a birds-eye view and note the different measurements on each wall.
Hall Stairs and Landing
Draw a birds-eye view of the Landing and hallway (as examples shown below).
Remember to make a note of were the stairs are and which way is down with a arrow.
In these examples note I have measured over the top stair. (You do not want a join at the top of the stairs).
